What do Popular Cars Cost at Auction?
Popular Car Prices at Auction in Michigan π€© π²
There’s usually a reason for popularity. It could be style, like the Aston Martin, appearance in pop culture (again the Aston Martin in James Bond), dependability like an indestructible early 2000s Toyota Corolla, cost, features, tech, or warranty.
High demand cars hit our Pontiac lot… a lot (no pun, promise), and usually exit just as quickly. We’d like to give you an idea of the average price of these popular makes and models at auction. Why? π€
Because then you’ll know just how much you can save! π°
By the way, popularity isn’t everything. Read more about the most reliable cars and how long a car make and model will usually last.
Most Popular Cars in Michigan
There are brands and model years that people like and don’t like. We should know, you'll find it all in our auction inventory. New cars arrive every week!
Here are some of the most popular models in the Wolverine State, in no particular order.
1. Toyota Tacoma
The Tacoma is one of the fastest selling cars in Michigan. These are hard to find at dealers for amazing prices. Let’s face it, they retain their value. π₯
But at Pontiac, expect to pay under $5,000, even for a Tacoma with under 200,000 miles. Cha-ching! π°
2. Ford F-Series
The most popular car (truck) in America and a lot of them come hit our auction yard. Average sale prices are about $2,000 at auction. You’ll pay half, a third, even a quarter of what you would for the same truck, similar mileage, and condition at a dealer.
Find out what used trucks are the best.
3. Ram 1500
Ah, Ram! What a truck. Another popular truck in Michigan (we like our trucks! π»). Often bids for these reach $3,000, higher than many other cars, but a steal when you compare to dealers that charge $10,000, 15, even $20k despite mileage of 100,000 or more.
4. Chevrolet Silverado
Wow, another truck. There’s a pattern here for sure! The Silverado is a powerhouse and a very reliable truck that can change owners and still pile on the mileage. Silverado’s average above $2,000 at Pontiac auction, but once again this is far lower than a dealership! π
5. Ford Escape
Tell me you haven’t seen a lot of these on the road? They’re everywhere. A lot of mid-2000s and 2010’s models roll through the lot and sell for under $2,000.
Compare a 2002 Ford Escape, with 120,000 miles and some work needed, with the same car from a dealer. You’ll likely bid under $3,000 at Pontiac Auto Auction, while at the dealer you’ll fork over twice that.
6. Chevrolet Equinox
A popular SUV in Michigan, the Equinox can run up a lot of miles and retain its value. You’ll see average sales around $1,000 for one of these.
Other popular cars such as the Kia Sedona, Jeep Wrangler, and Volkswagen Tiguan frequent our lot as well. A mid 2010s Tiguan will average $2,000 at auction, while at a dealer you’ll pay double, even quadruple! π°
